Transitional Housing

Transitional housing is temporary housing.
It
offers the individual an opportunity to live
in a structured environment while working
towards transitioning back into the community.

CAARE provides safe and affordable transitional
housing for people infected by HIV/AIDS who
are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.
By establishing a mentor environment and
providing linkages to healthcare and supportive
services, we help these residents reach their ultimate
goal of living in permanent housing.

Services offered to transitional housing residents include:

· Private room (with three common areas shared by two other residents)
· Self-care maintenance
· In-house quality assurance nurse
· Referrals to healthcare services and community agencies
· Nutritionist
· Opportunities to volunteer
· Consumer education
· Basic computer skills orientation
· Help in finding and training for a job
· Help in locating permanent housing
· HIV/AIDS education and empowerment
